Minuten der Stille - Von Angesicht zu Angesicht
2022-2023 | In collaboration with the TONALiSTEN and other artists
The human face is versatile and changeable. It has always been part of artistic expression and plays an important role in photography, painting and theater. The image of a face can be found everywhere. People have learned and perfected a wide variety of facial expressions so that they can always show their fellow human beings exactly the face they want them to see. The face is part of identity and individuality. In portrait photography, it is therefore always the photographer's task to capture this uniqueness of a person with the camera. The portrait goes beyond the basic depiction of a person, in that the essence of the person becomes an important aspect of the image. At the core of my work is an exploration and questioning of my own way of observing portrait photography. It is about developing an approach to photographing musicians and giving them the freedom to express themselves in the way they feel comfortable without being pushed in one direction. Classical music is characterized by traditions. Even today, portraits of musicians still show idealized images of traditional musicians. Especially in times of an over-representation of idealized faces in digital media, it is important to calm down and reflect on the essentials. People and their essence and how you can capture a part of their personality photographically.
